On February 13, 2003, Romolo Cifelli, fellow Corvette Challenge racer and series supporting sponsor was involved in an accident in his Corvette and suffered fatal injuries.
It saddens me to say to our friend Romolo is no longer with us. Romolo was truly a lover of the Corvette and he came to all of the Corvette Challenge races as far as I can remember even though he did not always race in it. You can always find Romolo's Nassau Blue 2000 Corvette in the staging lanes and can easily recognize it as his car has two white stripes painted on it much like the Grand Sport. His knowledge of the Corvette and drag racing helped many drivers estimate how quick their Corvette would run the 1/4 mile and he was scary accurate with his predictions.
On Tuesday, February 18, 2003, we laid our friend to rest. God Bless. We will miss our friend Romolo, the racer and the supporter of the series. May you rest in peace our friend.
