American Racing Headers Pro 8 Shootout presented by Carroll's Rod & Racecraft
The Pro 8 Shootout is HEADS-UP class that will be run in addition to our Corvette Challenge bracket races at five select Corvette Challenge dates (see schedule with dates marked with a "P"). The class will be run on a .400 Pro Tree and the race will be heads-up with the index, 8.50, being a hard index. A hard index means that no driver is allowed to run quicker than 8.50. Any run under 8.50 will not count for qualifying. Any elimination run under 8.50 will automatically lose (one exception below). With that in mind, the first car to the finish line without going under 8.50 wins!
New for 2009, in a double breakout race, the driver closet to his/her index will be allowed to continue in the event. A penalty will be assessed to each driver for breaking out. The driver awarded the win will be awarded the points for the round and can continue earning points the remainder of the event. This, however, means the same driver can go under more than once in an event and can be assessed more than one penalty in an event.
2009 Pro 8 Shootout - Heads-up - 8.50 Index
American Racing Headers Pro 8 Shootout presented by Carroll's Rod & Racecraft heads-up racing returns for 2009. The Pro 8 Shootout is an 8.50 heads-up hard index class. Performance of the Corvettes is limited to an 8.50 elapsed time. Corvettes competing in this class must run between 8.50 and 9.99 to qualify. Points registration is not required so you can bring your Corvette on any Pro 8 Shootout day without having to worry about points signup unless you wish to compete for the Championship. The class is run with a .400 Pro-Tree. In order to qualify for the class you must run no slower than 9.99 and no quicker than 8.50. You must be legal to run the ET you are capable of. If there is any question on the legality of your car, check with Paul Bailey at Raceway Park or NHRA at www.nhra.com. There are NO exceptions to this rule. The car must be legal for the Corvette Challenge. Winner and runner-up will get cash and trophies and the number 1 qualifier will receive a plaque. A group photo of all Pro 8 Shootout participants will be printed in Raceway News.
Qualifying
Drivers will be directed to a specific Pro 8 Shootout qualifying lane from which qualifying passes are made. We will do our best to tell you where you stand at the end of each time trial. The "bump spot" will be posted on the boards during qualifications if there are more than 8 cars attempting to qualify. Normally aspirated and power adder turbo/supercharger/nitrous) cars are all eligible to race as are multiple power adder cars. There will be two qualifying runs at each race. If you miss a call to the lanes, you miss your qualifier.
If both your qualifying passes are under 8.50 your closest to 8.50 will be used to place you on the ladder but will be after all other cars that have run over 8.50. This means if 9 cars attempt to qualifying and your best pass is 8.49, you will not qualify as you will be the ninth car for a field of eight.

Attention Racers with Muffler Eliminators
03/14/06 - Raceway Park has always had a muffler requirement for Saturday racing. In the past there has been some lenience to racers with muffler eliminators who met the db requirements. However Raceway Park will now strictly enforce the "Mufflers required" rule for Saturday including all or the ones we race in. We have come to agreement with Raceway Park that all Corvettes must meet the muffler required rule by our third race of the season, April 1, 2006. Any driver coming to the track on and after April 1, 2006 without mufflers or with muffler eliminators will not pass tech inspection and will not be allowed on the track. This ruling applies to all Corvette Challenge classes including Pro 8 Shootout, Pro 10 Double-Index and Pro 11.50 Index. Raceway Park phone is 732.446.7800. If there is any question about the legality of your exhaust, please contact Paul Bailey at Raceway Park and ask. We thank you for your cooperation with meeting this requirement.
