Pro 10.0 is a Heads-up Index Class
The Cartek Racing Pro 10.0 is a HEADS-UP class that will be run in addition to our Corvette Challenge bracket races at five select Corvette Challenge dates (see schedule with dates marked with a "T"). The class will be run on a .500 Pro Tree and the race will be heads-up with the index, 10.0, being a hard index. A hard index means that no driver is allowed to run quicker than 10.0. Any run under 10.0 will not count for qualifying. Any elimination run under 10.0 will automatically lose (one exception below). With that in mind, the first car to the finish line without going under 10.0 wins!
The class is a 16 car field. The 16 quickest Corvettes entered in the Pro 10.0 class will compete using a sportsman ladder where the top half qualifiers race the bottom-half qualifiers. The pairings will be as follows: number 1 races number 9, 2 v. 10, 3 v. 11 and so on. The sportsman ladder helps to ensure competitive racing in every pairing in every round. Rules are minimal and are listed below in detail. The Pro 10.0 is open to all Corvette power combinations including naturally aspirated, supercharged, single turbo, twin turbo, nitrous and any combination of them. Basically, if you get your combination to run in the 10's, you have a chance to get into the show.
The first and most important rule for the Cartek Racing Pro 10.0 is that the car must be
NHRA legal for the elapsed time (ET) it is capable of. To run in the 10's, you are responsible for meeting all of the requirements. The three major requirements are; the car must have a minimum
5 point roll bar, a minimum 5-point safety harness for the driver and an SFI
approved fire jacket. If there is any question on meeting the safety requirements contact Raceway Park tech director, Paul Bailey at Raceway Park or review the latest NHRA rule book or visit www.nhra.com. There are NO exceptions to the safety rules. The car must be legal for the Raceway Park Saturday racing rules.
Qualifing
Qualifying can be the most exciting adrenaline pumping part of this series. Only 16 racers get in the field. Drivers will be directed to a specific Cartek Racing Pro 10.0 qualifying lane from which qualifying passes are made. The driver closest to 10.0 will be the number 1 qualifier. The next driver with the ET closest to 10.0 will be the number 2 and so on. If a driver runs a qualifying pass under 10.0, they will be put on the bottom of the ladder and risk not qualifying. We will do our best to tell you where you stand at the end of each qualifying round. The "bump spot", or the time of the 16th qualified driver, will be posted on the boards during qualifications once more than 16 cars have made qualifying passes. We will two official qualifying runs.
2007 Cartek Racing Pro 10.0 Rules
You will find that the rules for the Cartek Racing Pro 10.0 Class are similar to the Pro 8 Shootout class except where the ET, tree and ladder are concerned. This should allow for drivers to be able to participate in both Pro 10.0 and Pro 8 Shootout.
- Sub 10.00 runs are not good. A run quicker than 10.0 during qualifying will move you to the bottom of the qualifying ladder. During eliminations a sub 10.00 run will result in disqualification from the race with no points awarded for that round & a 20 point penalty imposed for points drivers. This penalty discourages participants from intentionally competing with sub 10-second cars. The penalty was imposed twice in 2007.
- During eliminations, running under 10.0 loses! If both drivers run under the index, both drivers lose with one exception. If both drivers run under the index in a Final Round we will allow for one re-run to be held within 10 minutes of the double-breakout, (come right back to the lanes). If in the re-run, both drivers go under again, both will lose and no event winner will be named. The event purse will roll into the next index race and breakeout penalites apply.
Update 3/31/08 effective 3/29/08: Running under in eliminations on a bye run or competition single loses.
- Deep staging is allowed. Beginning 2008, "DEEP" does not have to be written on the car. The starting line official will not override the tree for a deep stager, you must get in before autostart starts the race. See March 15, 2008 update on autostart and deep staging.
- Any rear tire is allowed.
- 90 DB limit at tech/must have baffled mufflers; zero tolerance.

Attention Racers with Muffler Eliminators
03/14/06 - Raceway Park has always had a muffler requirement for Saturday racing. In the past there has been some lenience to racers with muffler eliminators who met the db requirements. However Raceway Park will now strictly enforce the "Mufflers required" rule for Saturday including all or the ones we race in. We have come to agreement with Raceway Park that all Corvettes must meet the muffler required rule by our third race of the season, April 1, 2006. Any driver coming to the track on and after April 1, 2006 without mufflers or with muffler eliminators will not pass tech inspection and will not be allowed on the track. This ruling applies to all Corvette Challenge classes including Pro 8 Shootout and Pro 10.0. Raceway Park phone is 732.446.7800. If there is any question about the legality of your exhaust, please contact Paul Bailey at Raceway Park and ask. We thank you for your cooperation with meeting this requirement.
