2005 Schedule Announced
12/23/04 - It is our pleasure to bring you the 2005 East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge schedule. Once again our schedule will feature, for bracket racers, 10 points races, 1 non-points race and our Top 16 Gambler's Invitational. In addition, we will feature 4 The Vette Doctors
Pro 8 Shootout heads-up races. The schedule is 99% completed with a review being done in the beginning of the year. Keep in mind, pre-determined rain dates will not be used this year and in the event of a rainout, an attempt will be made to reschedule the race at some point during the season.
Every attempt was made to accommodate racers input. You will notice one major change on the schedule. Requests were made to reduce the number of holiday weekends we race and to free us up for at trip to Bowling Green for the Corvette Forum Cruise-In. We are happy to announce both have been accommodated...sort of. We will not be racing in at E-Town on Memorial Day weekend. That race was moved to middle of May, giving drivers hoping for a Holiday weekend off that opportunity and making it possible for racers to attend the Corvette Forum Cruise In without losing any points since we will not be racing. Later in the year we will plan a caravan to the National Corvette Museum and a drag racing event at Bowling Green for all.
There was strong sentiment to have more races run in the evening sessions instead of the majority run in the morning. After serious consideration, it was determined that evening races at not a good fit for our Corvette Challenge in 2005. Among the reasons are the ability to run our morning events into the evening if need be affording us the opportunity to finish all races, and the desire to finish the Saturday program as early as possible, before curfew where possible, to help with recent noise about the noise at Raceway Park.

Drivers Tip of the Day: Before you Race
I would like to start by saying that this is a guide to Bracket Racing. Everything I share with you should be used as a guide. All information listed below is from my experience of Bracket Racing. One of the most important things that must be done before racing, Would be to make sure that all safety equipment is up to date and not damaged. Here is a list of things I do prior to making my first pass of the day. I will make sure all items in the car are secure in case I would need to apply the brakes hard. This would prevent any problems from maybe items striking the driver or landing on the floor and interfering with the gas pedal. I would then check tire pressure to make sure that the tires are at the proper pressure to race. The last thing I do before I get in the car to race is always check the tire pressure. Tire pressure can increase by a pound to a pound in a half in thirty minutes when a vehicle is parked in the sun. Tire pressure may not increase this much during the colder weather. If you are racing Round Robin, You need to check the tires more since they do not have time to cool down. Tire pressure plays a big part of racing. If the tire pressure is to low in the rear tires, You may spin the tires off the line and the car maybe unstable at higher speeds as you travel down the track. This will have the same effect for over inflated tires. Tire pressure in the rear tires have the same effect with slicks and a radial tire.

Race Day is Here
09/04/04 - Good morning all!! Today is race day. Weather is going to be great in the low
eighty's and humidity in the fifties. Turnout should be great for our seventh event of the
year on this Labor Day weekend. Don't forget, The Vette Doctors Pro 8 Shootout is going on
today as well as a bracket race in which our representative for the Summit ET Bracket Finals
will be determined. See you there!
Sep 4 Race to Decide our Reprsentative in the Summit Bracket Finals
08/30/04 - Race number 7 is now upon us. This Saturday, Sep 4th, our East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge points leader will earn the
right to represent all of our Corvette Challenge drivers in the Summit ET Bracket Finals Sept
30 - Oct 2 at US 13 Dragway. Points leader Rob Farley has the best advantage sitting on
top with 31 points. However, he cannot be too comfortable because John Panuzzo is only
1 point behind at 30. In third is John Mackey behind by seven points. He can take the
lead only if we go seven rounds, he wins, Farley loses first round and Panuzzo does not win
more than five rounds. This is sounding like the NFL playoff scenario. In the four spot and
needing help from the three ahead of him is Joe Signore with 23 points.
Good luck to all the drivers
Farewell and Thank you John Mackey
08/29/04 - John Mackey has reported to me that, effective immediately, he will no longer be an
organizer in the Corvette Challenge. For reasons that are personal to him, he will no longer
organize, participate or attend our East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenges in New Jersey
or on a National or Regional level.
I am saddened that I am losing a partner but I also respect his decision.
I would like to thank you John for working with us to make the series what it is today. You
have taught me a lot and I hope to carry that in continuing to grow this series at Raceway
Park and with our other Region leaders

Raceway Park needs our support
ATTENTION RACEFANS:
Raceway Park needs your help and support!!!
On Thursday August 5th, a Public Meeting is being held to discuss the noise levels that
affect the residents of Manalapan and Englishtown. Monmouth County Assemblymen Michael J.
Panter and Robert L. Morgan will discuss their recent legislation proposal to remove the
Motor Vehicle Racetrack Exemption from the Noise Control Act of 1971. This exemption is what
makes it possible for racetracks of all types to operate unmuffled vehicles. This move would
be devastating to Raceway Park, and could set off a number of changes the way racetracks
operate both here in our area and all over the state. Founded in 1965, long before the wave
of housing developments that now dominate our area, Raceway Park has remained a place for
motorsport enthusiasts of all kinds to come and enjoy the sports they love. Raceway Park has
been able to stay open these many years based largely in part on the vocal support of the
many local race fans who have helped us to fend off these attacks in the past.
We now ask for that support again, so that we may silence those who oppose Raceway Park once
and for all. The meeting is open to the public and will take place on Thursday August 5th at
7:00 PM in Manalapan Township at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters located at 125
Symmes Rd. The library is a mere 1/4 mile from the corner of Route 9 and Symmes Rd. and very
easy to access. If you are unable to attend, please contact Assemblymen Panter and
Assemblymen Morgan at 732-741-5599 and voice your opinion. You may also fax your thoughts to
732-741-0012 or contact them via email at AsmPanter@njleg.org or AsmMorgan@njleg.org. If you
e-mail, please copy Raceway Park at etownrcwy@aol.com. You can send a letter to them at New
Jersey General Assembly, Legislative Office, The Galleria, 2 Bridge Avenue, Bldg. 2, Red
Bank, New Jersey 07701. Please come out and support Raceway Park, the home of fast family
fun for over 40 years and for many years to come.
Offical Raceway Park Points posted with Tiebreak points
07/14/04 - Raceway Park official points have been posted and updated at our 2004 Standings here. You will
notice that there is a new negative number assigned each driver in the "tiebreak" column. That
number represents the position you hold this week and will be added to the position you hold
after the next race giving you a greater negative number. Where there is a tie, it is broken
first by then number of event wins this season. If that is still tie, the driver with the
lowest negative "tiebreak" number is awarded the position. If there are any questions about
the point system, please ask. Official Raceway Park Points for

New NHRA Pure Stock rules will NOT be in effect for June 26, 2004 race
06/23/04 - New NHRA Pure Stock rules will not be used at our next race, Saturday June 26,
2004. Track management is in the process of obtaining approval from the New Jersey State
Police Racing Division before any rule change can be implemented. So for now all rules will
stay the same and all safety equipment must be used as in the past for the times you run. Discuss this rule here.
NHRA announces Pure Stock rules for ET racers
06/22/04 - Today, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) announced class rules to govern
"Pure Stock" cars in ET (Bracket) racing at NHRA sanctioned tracks and events. The rules allow
for "stock cars" to run as quick as 11.50 without a roll bar. Basically the only change
allowed to the car from the way it was delivered from the dealer is drag radials. Click for announcement and rules. It has not been determined yet how and
when Old Bridge Township Raceway Park will implement these rules.

PLEASE READ - A message from Raceway Park
04/05/04 - All of us at Raceway Park are very proud of our sponsor relationships and work
very hard to maintain our commitments with these businesses that so graciously chose to be
involved with us and the two Corvette Challenge series. We ask all of our racers to not leave
Raceway Park without checking to see if you've won an award. One of the benefits our special
award sponsors receive is to have a photo of the recipient in Raceway News. When you leave the
track early, the award is not presented and a photo is not taken. As a result, it looks as
though Raceway Park is not upholding our end of the commitment. The last thing any of us want
is an unhappy sponsor. Thanks very much for your cooperation.
Mackey wins the Brackets and Major wins the Pro 8 Shootout
04/03/04 - The rain took a break long enough to host over 70 Corvettes, with John Mackey
returning to the winner's circle and taking the win when Tom Anderson went red in the final
after already taking the points lead from John Panuzzo in the quarter finals. The Vette
Doctors Pro 8 shootout opened its season today as well with Paul Major winning his first Pro 8
class defeating Mike Romain and also qualifying number one. Major made two 9 second passes
with a best for the day of 9.55.
Official points have been posted (see left) Bracket racing article posted and Pro 8 Shootout results here.
Pro 8 Shootout Racers to Race for a Championship Prize
03/28/04 - We welcome Furnakit.com as the newest Associate sponsor of the ECS CC for 2004. Jim
Baloga brings Furnakit.com on board to support the Corvette Challenge and The Vette Doctors Pro 8 Shootout heads-up class by giving, to the Pro 8
2004 points champion, a gift certificate for $500 usable on products purchased from their web
site. With only four Pro 8 races and only 8 spots at each, the points championship promises to
go down to the wire. Please join us in welcoming Jim and Furnakit.com to our sponsor family.
Welcome two new sponsors, Anger Management Racing and FINEST RACING
03/17/04 - Today the East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge welcomes two new sponsors to
our family of supporters.
Anger Management Racing joins us this year. Tommy Michalkowski has raced in a number of our
events including the former Quick 4 and new Vette Doctors Pro 8 Shootout with his basically
stock C5 with over 100K miles, Nitrous and a Supercharger. Tommy is working on a web site
and we will link to it as soon as it is available. Tom is a super GM technician who does not
hesitate to lend a hand at the track or on the road to a Vette in need.
FINEST RACING also joins our family of sponsors for the first time in
2004. Rob Farley is the FINEST RACING team President. FINEST RACING races with the Vettes
and the Mustangs and does both bracket and heads-up racing. He is also and official Geddex

level the playing field as drivers will be racing with them for the first time. Our first race
is just a couple weeks away so get in some practice. Visit Old Bridge Township Raceway Park for full E-town schedule.

East Coast Supercharging and The Vette Doctors return as 2004 title sponsors!
1/12/04 - We are proud to announce the return of our two primary sponsors.
East Coast Supercharging will again be title sponsor for the Corvette
Challenge. We are happy to have partners Chris Coriell and Doug Ring return to our series
for their third year. ECS will be the title sponsor for our ten points bracket races and Top
16 invitational gamblers race at the end of the season.
The Vette Doctors partners Carmen Melillo and Dennis Hemmerly return as
the title sponsor of our series within the series featuring the quickest and fastest
Corvettes in heads-up, no-holds-barred, run-whatcha-brung-and-hope-ya-brung-enough, racing!
Last year we saw four different Corvettes run in the 9's in this class! And for 2004, we are
happy to announce some significant changes. The successful experiment we called the Quick 4
+ 4, has led to The Vette Doctors Pro 8 Shootout. That is right! Each one of the four
heads-up races will be a field of the eight quickest qualifying Corvettes in the Challenge.
There is also one significant rule change. Pro 8 Shootout drivers, while still having to be
points racers, can now opt NOT to run in the brackets foregoing any points and racing only
in the head-up class.
2004 is shaping up to be a super season, so don't miss out. Points racing is not mandatory
but is a nominal fee of $30 for the season. Check back for more announcements as they will
be posted when available.

2003 Banquet successfully closes our 2003 Season
1/11/04 - Over 80 racers and loved ones attended our annual East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge Awards Banquet, this year
presented by CCW. A good time was had by all with good food, good drink and good
trophies and prizes. The 50/50 raffle was won by Timmy himself who in turn donated his portion
of the money, the mini bike winner was not present or available by phone, Vette Doctors co-owner, Carmen Melillo and customer Bill Maloney, went
home with an ECS dyno session each and Nick's grandmother won the Geddex package. And things
got weirder from there. John Panuzzo was awarded with a "Golden Sandbag", Frank Schear the
"Brian Miller Award and our 2003 champion, Joe Blass, donned the cape and crown as our new
King.
Many pictures of the event will be posted. For CCDV photos, click here and for another 95 photos click here and for yet another collection on the Corvette Forum click here. If you would like to discuss the event visit The Corvette
