Jeanne Linke Returns With Event 1 Win!
By Edgar Perez
March 19, 2011 - Englishtown, NJ -
Time to go racing again with the East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge presented by Yank Racing Converters. I have to say at times this winter it did not look like we would ever race again but we did. The snow melted and the sounds of roaring Corvette engines and the smell of smoldering rubber once again filled the playground known to most as simply, E-town. The series warm-up race was open to all Corvette racers to come out and compete without having the added pressure of points. That is all over next week when our points season begins.
There were 36 entries in the Corvette Challenge today complemented by 5 entries in the 11.50 index and 10 in the 10.50 index for a total of 51. The most notable entry was the return of the 2008 Champion Jeanne Linke. She picked up right where she left off going 5 rounds to take the event win. Linke again wheeled the John Panuzzo C6 Corvette while she sliced through the field. She started with a first round win over Eric Fischer with a .062 light over Eric's .193. She went on to round 2 where she took the win over Louis Calicchia. Round 3 she took a red light when Tony Cupolo left early. She used a .026 reaction time to defeat James Peins and advance to the final. In the final she faced another racer we had not seen for some time, John "The Money Man" Trescott. Linke's best light of the day, .004, came in the final round and led to the win. She also only .06 off her dial for a .010 total package.
Today's 51 total entries is the most we have had for the warm-up in 4 years. We are hoping this is a good sign of what is yet to come this year. Thanks to all for coming out.
This week's article is a little on the short side due to short time period to our next race and this author not able to attend the race. We will be back to full articles beginning next race.
Awards Handed Out at this Event
Next Two Races
The 2011 season opening warm-up race is in the books and we kick off our points Championship chase next week, March 26, 2011. There is no time to waste to start getting points. Will this be your season? Will anyone stop the "Mahopac Express" on his chase for yet another Championship? Remember. signing up for points is not mandatory but so much fun and leads to qualification for special races, prizes and of course, jackets for our top 16 finishes. You can sign up for points at the track but do so before first round of eliminations so that you get credit for the day. Doing it after will not get you retroactive points...sorry.
After next week's race we get a week off and then we pick up it up again for race number 3 of the season on Saturday, April 9, 2011.

As always, we couldn't enjoy our passion for racing without the tireless efforts of our coordinators - Edgar Perez, Bob Trieschmann and Dennis Kazimir. We'd be reduced to time shots only without our sponsors - many thanks for the continued support of our sponsors;
