04/24/10 - Englishtown, NJ - Reading these articles for the Anger Management Racing Pro 11.50 Index always made my day after a race. So when Edgar asked me, "Would you like to write the 11.50 article?", I said "Why Not?", so here it goes. Saturday was in the 70's and sunny, a beautiful day for racing. We almost had a full field, 15 drivers qualified. We were missing the "Notorious" Rob Farley today so drivers wanted to jump on the opportunity to catch up to the top of the leader board.

Round 1

The first two drivers to the burnout box were Marc Hinkes (4) and Jerry Muniz (11). Jerry left first with a .088 light to Marc's .229, but Marc would come away with the win as jerry couldn't run the number running an 11.959 @ 114.44 mph to Marc's 11.626 @ 105.55 mph. The next pair was Ron Higgins (13) Who had his 96 Corvette with him for the first time this season and Shay LaScalla (8) in her 07 Corvette. Higgins would cut the better light .129 to LaScalla's .175, Higgins would stay ahead and get the win with a 12.310 @ 111.48mph to LaScalla's 12.595 @ 115.35mph. Next to the line were the two rookies Anthony S Cupolo (5) and Peter Huff (12). Anthony went in deep and gets the better light .030 to Huff's .178. Cupolo would get the win running an 11.659 @ 106.87 mph to Huff's 12.040 @ 117.56 mph Next up was Ellis Gray (3) and Rich Shuleski (10). Shuleski would put on the red light with a -.143 running a 11.651 @ 118.99 mph. Gray would have a free pass and he would cut an .052 light and run a 11.553 @ 118.09. Next pair was Tommy Michalkowski (7) and John Hadyniak (14). Tommy would cut a .151 light to Hadyniak's .180. John tried to run him down but came up short running an 11.576 @ 114.42 mph to Tommy's 11.537 @ 113.32 mph. Next to line were Gary Hillen (9) and Paul Bogdan (2). Gary would cut the better light a .072 to Paul's .121. Gary would stay ahead and get the win crossing first running an 11.593 @ 117.48 mph and Paul would cross second running an 11.568 @ 112.10 mph The final pair was Ralph Savarese (8) and Rob Petyo (15). Ralph would cut the better light .104 to Rob's .227. Rob ran his car hard but couldn't make up the difference as he runs an 11.533 @ 93.19 mph to Ralph's 11.611 @ 115.25 mph Eric Fisher would get the bye run and cuts a .097 light and runs a 11.531 @ 117.92

2010 Race 4 Ladder

Round 2

First two drivers for round 2 were Tommy Michalkowski (7) and Ellis Gray (3). Gray goes -.008 on the tree giving Tommy a free pass and he would run it hard with a .120 light and run an 11.458 @112.29 mph. and Gray would run an 11.513 @ 118.59 mph Next up was Ralph Savarese (8) and Mark Hinkes (4). Another red light would give Ralph a free pass as he cuts a .030 light and runs an 11.479 @ 118.55 mph. Although Marc went -.043 red he still ran his car hard running an 11.460 @ 121.07 mph. Next pairing was Gary Hillen (9) and Ron Higgins (13). Ron would have the better light .081 to Gary's .316 but Ron couldn't run the number as he crosses with a 12.033 @ 110.43 mph to Gary's 11.752 @ 114.32 mph giving Gary another win. Last race of the round was another close one between Anthony S Cupolo (5) and Eric Fisher (1). Both drivers had great reaction times, Cupolo with a .037 to Fishers .039. Right from the start it was going to be a close race. Cupolo crosses first but goes to quick running 11.497 @116.27 giving Fisher the win as he runs an 11.518 @ 116.29.

Round 3:

Eric Fisher (1) and Tommy Michalkowski (7) would start off the semi finals. Eric would leave first .128 light to Tommy's .174 light. Both drivers ran to fast but Tommy went under more running an 11.397 @ 116.76 mph to give Fisher the win as he runs an 11.467 @ 116.97 mph. The next pair was Gary Hillen (9) and Ralph Savarese (8) both drivers with great close reaction times but Gary was a bit quicker with a .046 to Ralph's .048. Gary would keep the lead all the way to the end and get the win running an 11.603 @ 118.77 mph to Ralph's 11.624 @ 115.21 mph

Round 4: Final Round

The final round was between Gary Hillen (9) and Eric Fisher (1). Gary would cut the better light .039 to Fisher's .123, Fisher couldn't make up the difference as Gary gets the win and crosses the line with an 11.594 @ 114.22 and Fisher's 11.528 @ 117.89

Awards and Payouts Today

  • Winner Gary Hillen earned a payout of $130 in addition to the winner trophy
  • Runner-up Eric Fischer earned a payout of $65 in addition to the runner-up trophy
  • Semi-Finalists Tommy Michalkowski and Ralph Savarese received $30
  • Number 1 Qualifier Eric Fischer received a plaque for his 11.515 @ 117.15 qualifying run
  • Anthony S. Cupolo received the Best Reaction Time plaque for the best winning reaction time in the first round at .030

2010 Points Standings

Eric Fischer increased his points lead over Ellis Gray with his runner-up performance. Coming in with a 58 point lead, Fischer leaves with a lead of an even 100 pts, or equivalent of five rounds. Fischer holds a 310 to 210 lead over Gray. Three drivers were able to get around Rob Farley who could not make today's race and fell from third to sixth. Shay LaScalla moved into third place in the standings with 160 points followed closely by Tommy Michalkowski who now has 146 points. Rounding out the top 5 is Marc Hinkes with 149 total points thus far this season.

Next Two Races

We now go into a 42 day hiatus before our fifth race (4th for points) of season. We get the entire month of May off and return to the track on June 5, 2010. The subsequent race will also have a month long break as we then race on July 10, 2010.
