04/03/10 - Englishtown, NJ - Today's Anger Management Racing Pro 11.50 Index event was a small taste of what summer will be like. Of the two events that we raced this year, one has been cold and the second event a warm one. This is the first time that we did not have a full field. We had fifteen cars come out to battle it out on the 1320. During qualifying we had seven Corvettes qualify in the 11.50's, two in the 11.60's, two in the 11.80's, one in the 11.90's, one 13.15 and two in the 11.40's. The number one qualifier today is a class Rookie for 2010. Marc Hinkes has everyone talking in the lanes about how he has been improving on his reaction times and how his Yellow C6 has been running the number.

2010 Race 3 Ladder

Round 1

the first two drivers to start off today's event was Tommy Michalkowski (9) and Ellis Gray (2). Both driver's were staged deep and then the tree flashed. Tommy was out first with a .114 to Ellis sleepy .208. At the stripe it was Tommy crossing first with an 11.515 @ 121.20 mph to Ellis's loosing 11.555 @ 118.31 mph. The next two driver's to the line drove a combined total of seven hours to arrive at the track today. At the line were Rich Shuleski (14) and Jack Dennis (7). Rich drove from Parsons PA and Jack drove from Rochester NY. Both drivers are staged and waiting for a flash from the tree, the tree flashed. Rich was out first by a car length with a .068 to Jacks .181. On the top end it was Jack crossing first with an 11.514 @ 114.04 mph to Rich's 11.669 @ 116.15 mph. The next pair to the line was Chris Coriell (8) and Anthony Cupolo (15). With both drivers staged and looking to win this round so they could move onto the next round, the tree flashed and Anthony goes red and Chris leaves with a .129 reaction time. Chris only went about fifteen feet and the pinion broke in the rear. Both drivers' were done for the day.

Half way through round one we have John Hadyniak (4) and Mike Moran (11) looking to battle it out on the 1320. John is staged shallow and Mike staged deep, the tree flashed and John is out first with a .108 to Mike's .296. Mike knew there was no way he was going to catch John so Mike took a slow ride down the track waving to his fans. John crossed the finish line at 11.573 @ 105.82 mph to Mike's slow pass of 14.365 @ 86.65 mph. Next to the line are two crowd favorites, Eric Fischer (5) and Paul Bogdan (12). Both driver's can cut a light and we all know that both driver's will have no problem running the Index. Now the question is who will have the better package to move onto the next round? Both driver's are staged deep and are waiting to see yellow. The tree flashed and Paul is out first but he is red giving Eric a FREE PASS to the next round. Paul had a -.038 to Eric's .041 reaction time. Eric crossed the finish line with a 11.550 @ 117.50 mph to Paul's loosing 11.755 @ 117.13 mph.

Next to the line is the driver with a huge bull's eye on his back. The bull's eye has been on Rob Farley (6) for a long time. Rob is racing Ron Higgins (13). Ron is bagging gears in his 1966 Corvette with side pipes. Both driver's left a little late on the tree. Rob left first with a .272 to Ron's .278. Rob crossed first with a 11.893 @ 81.55 mph to Ron's 13.208 @ 106.46 mph. Next to the line was the SHEDEVIL, AKA Shay LaScalla (10) driving her red C6 SHEDEVIL. Shay will be racing Jerry Muniz (3) in his HOTC6. With both driver's staged and knowing they need to cut a good light to get that starting line advantage, Jerry leaves first with a red light. Jerry was -.018 red to Shay's .128. Shay crossed the finish line at 11.375 @ 121.72 mph to Jerry's 11.594 @ 120.11 mph. The last person to finish round one was Marc Hinkes (1). Marc was the number one qualifier today and since there was an odd number of vehicle's racing today, he will have a bye run for round one. Marc left the line with a .055 and crossed the beams with a 11.580 @ 120.21 mph.

Round 2

The first pair to start off round two is Eric Fischer (5) racing Marc (#1) Hinkes (1). Marc pushed the tree a little too much and saw a bright red bulb. Marc had a -.023 to Eric's .097. Both drivers made this a time shot and Eric ran a 11.545 @ 117.83 mph to Marc's 11.540 @ 120 66 mph. The SHEDEVIL is back. Shay LaScalla (10) will be taking on Jack Dennis (7). Jack is out first with a .136 to Shay's .156. At the finish line it is Shay crossing first with a 11.463 @ 113.35 mph to Jack's quicker ET of 11.453 @ 116.97 mph. Next to the line is Rob Farley (6) racing the person that installed his new engine Tommy Michalkowski (9). Tommy installed Rob's new engine only a few weeks before the season started. Rob just made it to the starting line as Tommy was just going to do his burnout. Rob was helping a few people in the pits and did not hear the call for round two. That was a close one. I am sure no one would have been upset besides Rob. Rob was crossing his fingers hoping that Tommy did not install a remote kill switch. Both driver's almost had identical reaction times. Tommy left first with a .071 to Rob's .074. At the finish line it was Rob getting the win light. Rob crossed with a 11.557 @ 112.65 mph to Tommy's 11.621 @ 123.02 mph. The last driver to complete round two was John Hadyniak (4). John was paired with Chris Coriell (8). Chris was not able to replace the rear in his car for round two so John will get a bye run into the semi finals. John left the line with a .106 and crossed the beams at 11.638 @ 114.47 mph.

Round 3:

The semi finals. We are so close to the finals. There are only four drivers remaining. The first pair to attempt to go to the finals was Rob Farley (6) and John Hadyniak (4). Rob was off the line first with a .090 to John's .135. On the top end it was Rob doing his Farley Slide to a 11.549 @ 113.99 mph to John's 11.528 @ 112.65 mph. To finish up the round are Eric Fischer (5) and The SHEDEVIL Shay LaScalla (10). Eric was able to get off the line first with a .044 to Shay's .091. Both driver's side by side approaching the finish line, it was Eric crossing first with a 11.528 @ 117.96 mph to Shay's 11.522 @ 111.94 mph.

Round 4: Final Round

Here we go, Eric Fischer (5) will try to get even with Rob Farley (6) from the last race. Rob put the top bulb on and Eric Fischer (I will get you Farley) staged next. The Rob rolled forward to turn on the staged bulb, Eric rolled forward and Rob Rolled in deep. Then Eric tried to break Rob's concentration with his next move. Eric rolls though the beams, backs up, stages again. The tree flashed and Eric was out first with a .042 to Rob's confused .094. At the finish line it was almost identical ET's. Eric crossed first with a 11.576 @ 115.40 mph to Rob's loosing 119.31 mph. Congrats to Eric for winning and taking out Rob Farley. From what we hear, Rob has mailed in his check for $300 to the NHRA to contest the final round. Just joking. At the air pump, Eric asked Rob "are you OK with what happened?" Rob replied "I would rather race someone then win the round by someone making a mistake." Just a note to all, some will say Eric should had been disqualified, some will say no problem with what he did, and he was Rob Farley. You need to do what you need to do to win against him. All in all, it was a great day and everyone had a great time.

2010 Points Standings

With a runner-up in the first points race and a win in this one, Eric Fischer has opened a commanding lead in the points standings. His total of 212 points leads Rob Farley by 58 points, almost three rounds. Farley holds the second spot with 154. Ellis Gray holds the third position with 145 points. Shay LaScalla follows in fourht with 126 points while Jerry Muniz and John Hadyniak each have 110. There are 19 points drivers in this class and it is not too late to sign yourself up and throw your name in the hat. The 10-data season should lead to a very interesting points chase as there is still plenty of time for anyone to get in the mix for 2010 with 8 dates remaining on the calendar.
