03/27/10 - Englishtown, NJ - After a long winter, eighteen drivers were in attendance for the first points race of 2010. With the cool weather, many drivers were trying to slow down there cars to run the index. The racers that came out last week for the warm up had an advantage over those that did not come out to play. This is the third season for the Anger Management Racing Pro 11.50 Index. This weekend was the first time we had a problem with the ladder. The mistake was not noticed until after the event.

Qualifying

2010 Race 2 Ladder

Round 1

The first pair to the starting line was Eric Fischer (1) who was our number one qualifier who was paired up against Anthony Cupolo (9). Both drivers staged deep hoping that this would effect there reaction time in a positive way. After the tree flashed, the starting line advantage went to Anthony by .017. Anthony was out first with a .049 to Eric's .066. With the reaction times close, this was going to be a test of skills at the finish line. Eric crossed first with a 11.533 @ 117.94 mph to Anthony's 11.557 @ 112.42 mph. The next pair was Ron Higgins (11) banging gears going up against John Hadyniak (3). The starting line advantage went to Ron with a .242 to John's .311. Crossing the stripe first was Ron with a 13.228 @ 107.09 mph to John's 13.173 @ 101.58 mph. The next pair to the line are very good friends and worked together in the past. First to the line were Ellis Gray (2) and Mile Moran (10). Ellis left first with a .095 to Mike's .311 which was his worse light of the day. Ellis had a good lead on Mike and allowed him to cross first with a 11.678 @ 110.02 mph to Mike's 11.466 @ 124.93 mph.

The next pair to the line was Marc Hinkes (13) driving his yellow 2006 Corvette and Shay (SheDevil) LaScalla (5). Shay came into today's event probably as the most feared racer. Shay has a reputation of knocking down the tree and running very close to the index. This round will prove to all that she meant business today. With both drivers staged deep and waiting for the flash of the tree. The tree flashed and Shay was off the line with a .042 to Marc's .087. Marc tried to push Shay out but ran under the index. Marc crossed the finish line with a 11.489 @ 106.08 mph to Shay's winning 11.532 @ 113.03 mph. We are now half way through the first round. It appears that the drivers are doing very well for the first points race of the season. The next pair to the line was Jerry Muniz (4) and Tommy Michalkowski (12). Over the winter Jerry had some engine work completed at CARTEK so he would not need the laughing gas to run 11.50 this season. In the other lane was Tommy who is running a twin turbo on his daily driver vehicle. Both drivers new that this would be a Tommy left first but he was just a little early. Tommy was -.010 red to Jerry's .125. This gave Jerry a free time shot. Jerry crossed the finish line with a 11.596 @ 105.60 mph to Tommy's loosing 12.844 @ 74.37 mph.

The next two points racers to the line were Paul Bogdan (14) and Andrew Volponi (6). Paul was out first with a .096 to Andrew's .263 reaction time. Paul crossed first with a 11.652 @ 107.47 mph to Andrew's 11.542 @ 123.10 mph. One of the next two drivers to the line has been on the TV show Pass Time. That is Peter Huff (7). Peter was paired up with Jack Dennis (15). The starting line advantage was only .032, going to Jack. Jack left first with a .122 to Peter's .154. As both drivers where going down the 1320, Peter was able to keep a fender on Jack to the finish line. Peter crossed first with a 11.570 @ 118.43 mph to Jacks loosing 11.626 @ 103.00 mph. The last pair to finish first round was Ralph Savarese (8) who is a three time Champion in the Corvette Challenge. Ralph was racing the only other three time champion Rob Farley (16). No rookies racing here. Both drivers are staged deep and are ready to go on a flash. The tree flashed and Rob was out first with a .062 to Ralph's .107. Both drivers were side by side at the top end looking at each other to see who Rob hit the brakes first. Rob hit the brakes first and then Ralph hit the brakes. When Rob saw Ralph hit the brakes, Rob accelerated to the finish line. Rob crossed first with a 11.652 @ 102.45 mph to Ralph's 114.07 mph. Both drivers did not know who won since it was the close at the finish line. Both drivers had to wait for the light on the wall to know who won.

Round 2

Round two started off with Jerry Muniz (4) racing Rob Farley (16). Both drivers staged deep and were sitting on the edge of there seat waiting for the tree to flash. Jerry was out first with a stout .030 to Rob's .068 reaction time. At the finish line it was Jerry crossing first with a 11.551 @ 106.49 mph to Rob's 11.534 @ 112.35 mph. Rob hit the brakes and allowed Jerry to cross first. That is giving up the stripe. The next pair to the line is no strangers to this class. The next two drivers to battle it out were Ellis Gray (2) and Paul Bogdan (14). Both drivers are staged and they both know they need to be on there game to move onto the next round. The tree flashed and Paul was out first with a .017 to Ellis's .061. Ellis was able to stay ahead of Paul at the finish line and crossed with a 11..543 @ 116.26 mph to Paul's loosing 11.647 @ 115.33 mph. The next pair to the line was the famous Peter Huff (7) and Ron Higgins (11). Both drivers must have been thinking of something else other then racing when the tree flashed. Ron left first with a .207 to Peter's .245. At the finish line it was Peter crossing first with a 12.496 @ 102.90 mph to Ron's 13.045 @ 106.37 mph. The last pair to close out round two was Eric Fischer (1) and Shay (SheDevil) LaScalla (5). Shay was off the line first with a .055 to Eric's .082. Shay lifted to tighten it up on the top end but when she tried to accelerate, her Red Devil C6 did not respond allowing Eric to pass her to win the round.

Round 3:

We are now in the semi finals. The competition is strong and the racers are looking to move onto the finals. The first pair to the line was Eric Fischer (1) and Peter Huff (7). Peter was off the line first with a .046 to Eric's .086. Peter could not hold off Eric as he was able to drive around Peter with a 11.503 @ 104.60 mph to Peter's loosing 11.827 @ 118.32. The last pair was Ellis Gray (2) and Jerry Muniz (4). Both drivers are staged deep and Ellis was out first with a .058 to Jerry's .105. This was a side by side race to the finish line. Ellis crossed first with a 11.538 @ 115.18 mph to Jerry's 11.506 @ 109.69 mph.

Round 4: Final Round

The final had the top two qualifiers in the final. Today's number one qualifier was Eric Fischer (1) and Ellis Gray (2). Both drivers staged deep and knew they need to hit the tree and be able to run the index to win this event. Ellis was out first with a .044 to Eric's .063. Both drivers broke out trying to get to the stripe first. The driver that broke out by the least was Ellis. Ellis crossed the finish line with a 11.448 @ 118.87 mph to Eric's 11.417 @118.22 mph. Congratulations to both drivers for battling there way through a tough field of drivers.
