Keith Brownlee wins Vette Doctors Quick 4 race 1

The Vette Doctors Quick 4
was in town during the East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge this past weekend. And
needless to say, the cars posted some amazing qualifying numbers as they attempted to make
their way into the elusive Quick 4 field. Of the 101 entrants, yes, you heard me, 101, we
saw 4 racers post times quick enough to get them into the quick 4. In at number 1 would be
Keith Brownlee with his time of 9.802. Number 2 was Carmen Melillo, Amityville, NY,
co-owner of The Vette Doctors with a blistering 10.429. The number 3 qualifier was Ken
Sforza with a 10.55 in a Vette Doctors prepared 346 cid heads and cam C5 with a 150 shot of Nitrous Oxide And we wrapped things up
with out 4th fastest time, 10.99, which went to Tommy Michalkowski, Bricktown, NJ aka Anger Management Racing. Tommy's car was prepared by Anger Management Racing.
First round of competition in the Vette Doctors Quick 4 saw some awesome action. Our
first pair was that of Carmen Melillo and Ken Sforza. Both cars launched hard with real
close reaction times, and as they made their way to the top end, Carmen in the right lane
got extremely loose, got a good look at the wall, but was still able to hold out for the
win as he ran 10.085 at 136.28 to Ken’s 10.641 at 133.01. One down and one to go as
we watched Keith Brownlee battle it out against Tommy Michalkowski. Michalkowski left
first, a .881 to a 1.007 reaction, but Keith motored around him for the win to the tune of
11.587 at 135.66 to his opponent’s 11.773 at 128.71.
One more race to go, that’s it…I promise. The Quick 4 final round
featuring Keith Brownlee and Carmen Melillo. Talk about a close heads up race off the
line, Carmen left with a mere 1 hundredth of a second advantage. Unfortunately he ran
into a bit of trouble grabbing the gears and Keith motored on by to run 9.764 at 138.80 to
Carmen’s 10.829 at 108.17. All in all it was a great day for the East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge and the Vette Doctors Quick 4.
