08/21/10 - Another great day for the Corvette Challenge. In the Corvette Challenge Doug Bereczki takes his first event win when Tony Cupolo goes red and then proceeds to run dead-on with a 14.442 on 14.44 dial. In the 11.50 it is Tony's son, Anthony S. taking his second 11.50 index win over Ralph Savarese who failed to run the number in the final. Father and son shared the car that lost it's alternator and made its last three/four passes on battery alone. In the 10.50 Shawn Cavanagh takes over the points lead when he qualifies number 1 and goes on to the win over Edgar Perez who was in his fourth straight final. In the Pro 8 Shootout it was David and David with Shen getting the better of Harris in the final by a margin of only .008. Shen took the win with 9.59 to Harris; 9.61

Working on preliminary points and ladders. Congrats to the winners and thanks to all for coming out today.

Announcing Schedule Change to make up Rainout
07/20/10 - We have confirmed that we will be making up the rained out July 10 race. The end of season Top 16 Race will move from November 6 to November 13 and we will now have a full, four class race on November 6 for Corvette Challenge, 11.50 Index, 10.50 Index and Pro 8 Shootout. Please be sure to update your calendars. No other races change. As for race, numbers, we keep going in order, the next race, July 24, will be our sixth race of the season (fifth points race). Hope to see you all soon.
    July 10 Race Rained Out
07/10/10 - Sorry to say, Raceway Park has decided to rain out today's drag racing activities due to the incoming thunderstorms. I know we were all looking forward to getting back to racing action but we will have to wait two more weeks to July 24th. Today's race will be made up, I just need to confirm with Raceway Park on Monday to make sure we are good with out preseason plan which is to move the Top 16 out a week and replace that date with our makeup.
    Are You Ready for July?
06/24/10 - We are about to head into another one of those busy racing months. If you are a calendar watcher then you will have three opportunities in July to race Corvette vs. Corvette in July. Corvette Challenge is back in action with all four classes on July 10 and July 24. These are points races for all points racers and fun races for non-points racers. If that is not enough then Raceway Park will be hosting its annual Corvette Show & Go on July 31. This is great event with drag racing, auto crossing and a huge Corvette only Show. All of our racers are welcome. It is not a Corvette Challenge so it won't be the same. There will be several bracket classes and also it will be the day that we test a heads-up Pro Tree 12.50 index class for Corvettes. Our last test resulted in a very successful 11.50 Corvette Challenge index class. Who knows if this one will work but I can tell you being there is the best way to have your interest be heard.

    See you there.

2010 Kicking Off With Great Weather
03/18/10 - It is finally here. The snow is melted, and the gates will be opening for us to kick off our 12th season and with the forecast that could reach the 70's and sunny. This season's warm up race will be the first to feature all of our Corvette classes. There are now four Corvette only classes as part of our Corvette Challenge program. Each of our race dates, including our warm-up, will feature the Bracket class we all know as the Corvette Challenge and three Pro-tree heads-up index classes with indexes set at 11.50, 10.50 and 9.50. To add the robust group of classes, we are also making up our 2009 Corvette Challenge Top 16 Invitational for our top 16 finishing bracket racers from 2009.

Please note this year, Raceway Park (RP) is requiring all racers have a permanent number. This is a number assigned to you for use each time you race at RP. If you pay to be a points racer, there is no charge to have this number assigned. If you are not a points racer, there is a fee of $5 which is good for the remainder of the year, that you will pay at the gate the first time you enter the track this season. You will get a four digit number assigned that you can/will use every time you race at RP in 2010.

Lastly, if there are any questions at the race track regarding any of our classes, Top 16 race procedures or anything else, please find Bob Trieschmann, Rob Farley, Dennis Kazimir or any Raceway Park official. Edgar Perez will not be at the first race.

    Web Site Changes Underway
02/28/10 - With the start of our season three weeks away, I have made some updates to the site in preparation for points. I have updated points standings for all four classes and you will now see all drivers, as of the last update from Raceway Park a few weeks ago, on the site. I am hoping to have a new update soon as I know several of you have mailed in your checks. If you not signed up for points, please do so as the more points drivers we have the more fun we will have. I have moved the latest winner pictures to be horizontal and will keep it udder the latest news item. The bar feature the latest winner of each of our four classes and a fifth picture will show a different winner from years past each time you visit the page, go ahead, refresh the page and see. I also updated the driver top 5 standings on the left side of the page so that you will see the top 5 for the class you are reading about on top. For example, click on the class links on the top banner and you will see both the left and right of the web site show specific class top 5 and sponsors.

Fingers crossed for no more snow!!!

    Title Sponsors Renew for 2010
02/27/10 - We are very happy to announce that all four of our title sponsors have agreed to return for 2010. We are especially grateful to our Pro class sponsors as expanding the schedule from 5 dates to 11 for the Pro 8 Shootout, Pro 10.50 and Pro 11.50 meant each of our sponsors picked up a bigger financial outlay ensuring that each class maintains its payouts. We are happy to announce that East Coast Supercharging returns as the title sponsor of the Corvette Challenge bracket class while American Racing Headers returns to title the Pro 8 Shootout 9.50 Index, Cartek Performance Engineering returns to title the Pro 10.50 Index and Anger Management Racing returns to title the Pro 11.50 class. In these trying times, we thank our title sponsors for their support of the Corvette Challenge racing series.
Raceway Park to Test 12.50 Corvette Heads-up Index
02/07/10 - If you have missed the hints or the announcement at the banquet, Raceway Park will be testing a heads-up Corvette index this year. That is right; you have an opportunity to try a .500 pro tree heads-up 12.50 index for Corvettes only this year. The success of the Corvette Challenge indexes and drivers requests for another index have led to the scheduling of a trial index. The race will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 during the annual Corvette Show & Go at Raceway Park. Rules will be similar to our 11.50 index class except for the index being 12.50. Try and make plans to attend and race. If turnout is successful we can look into doing this on a regular basis as part of our Corvette Challenge.
    Banquet Is Done
02/01/09 - We had a great time at the banquet. Thanks to all that came out to partake in the celebration. We will have video up in a few weeks hopefully. Congratulations again to all of our Champions, runner-up and award winners and our Top 16. Thanks for the fun time and drinks. See you all in a few weeks.
Pick up Banquet Tickets at the Banquet
01/15/10 - In years past, we have mailed out banquet tickets but this year will be different. I ordered the tickets late and just received them this week and don't want to risk mailing them out at this late date. I will hold the tickets. You can get them at the registration desk before you enter the banquet hall. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

You still need to pre purchase the tickets. You have until Sunday January 25 to get the payment to me. Paypal is instant and so easy even JPEE was able to do it.

    See you soon.

    Preliminary Schedule Update
01/13/10 - Just got a call and one of our preliminary dates needs is moving. Please note we will NOT race 10/23 and instead will race a week earlier on 10/16. The schedule is still preliminary as of now.
Better Late Than Never, 2008 Top 16 Article
01/19/09 - It was a long year and the Top 16 race for 2008, which was held with the first race of 2009, was completed but its article was not. I have completed that article now and put it online. Sorry folks. It works out well with 69 days to go for our first race of 2010 and our 2009 Top 16, you now have something to read.
Click for 2008 Top 16 Article.. Congrats again on the win Ralph!
    Updated Champions Header
01/03/10 - With a new year comes a new web site header. You will now see the four Champion Corvettes, Rob Farley - Corvette Challenge, Michael Conway - Pro 8 Shootout, David Shen - Pro 10 Double Index and Rob Farley - Pro 11.50 at the top of every page. Along with the Corvette change is a little bit of menu restructuring and font change for the site navigation in the header. Hope you like it.

    Happy New Year!

Announcing 2010 Preliminary Schedule and a New Class Structure
12/18/09 - We are pleased to announce the 2010 East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge preliminary schedule. Keep in mind the schedule is preliminary and will not be finalized until the after we ring in the New Year. The '10 schedule will begin with our annual "Warm-up" race, a full payout, non-points race, on March 20, 2010 (this race will also feature our 2009 Top 16). We will then proceed with a 10-race points season and finally conclude the year with our '10 Top 16 race in November.

The Corvette Challenge series will be taking a huge step forward in 2010. The series will feature the largest model specific bracket series anywhere and three heads-up Index classes. The 11.50 index returns and will be joined by the reshaped 10.50 heads-up Index, no more double index! The third Index class will be the restructured Pro 8 Shootout, now a 9.50 index. Our schedule will feature all four classes at each of our 11 dates open to all Corvettes which includes the season opening "warm-up" and 10 points races for each class. The points system for the Corvette Challenge bracket class remains unchanged and we will feature two changes for the Pro (Index classes). Any Pro Index class winner, who is also the number one qualifier on the day of the win, will be rewarded with a 5-point bonus. Additionally we will no longer penalize a driver for making a run under his/her index.

Raceway Park will once again offer a discounted combination tech card where you can run any two Corvette classes on the same day for $50. You can race brackets with any index or you can race any two indexes on the same day for only $20 more than the $30 fee for one class.

Updated rules pages will be uploaded soon.

Big thanks to Raceway Park for continuing to provide a playground for Corvette owner's and helping find innovative ways to make our hobby even better.

    Season Finale is Upon Us
11/20/09 - The weather is looking great for our season finale tomorrow, November 21, 2009. Hopefully you can make it out for our final Corvette Challenge, Pro 8 Shootout and Pro 11.50 Index of the 2009 season. See you there.
    Officially Rained Out
11/14/09 - Official word was posted this morning at 6:45 AM; we are rained out today. Sadly this means we will not have a full points season for any of today's classes as there are no dates left on the schedule to make them up. So we try and race our final Corvette Challenge, Pro 8 Shootout and Pro 11.50 of the season next week, November 21.
    Outlook for Tomorrow
11/13/09 - Some of you may have noticed our beloved forum has been down all day. I know we are all watching the weather and crossing our fingers. Unfortunately the drill is the same, call the track in the morning and often. I will update the site and send out a twitter message when I get any negative new, if at all. Raceway Park phone is 732.446.7800. Hope to see you tomorrow.
First 2009 Champion Decided; David Shen Wins Pro 10 Double Index Championship
10/31/09 - Congratulations go out to David Shen on his second Pro 10 Championship title. It was a nail-biter with Shen going red first round losing his first 1st round ever in Pro 10 competition. He needed the win to clinch the title and the red light left the door open for Edgar Perez to take the points lead from him if he went on to win the race. He went to the final but could not get past first time event winner, David Harris when Harris took the stripe by .026 and Shen jumped in relief. The championship had been decided by 11 points, less than one round (20 per round), when Harris took the win by .028. That is it. That is the margin of Championship. Congratulations to David Shen who wins his second Pro 10 Championship, first in the Double Index format.
First Time Winners Paul Bogdan(CC)and David Harris in Pro 10 DI in Even 9
10/31/09 - Rain threatened again but not enough to stop Paul Bogdan from taking his first Corvette Challenge victory in our 9th race of the season. Good karma comes to those who give and Bogdan gave by entering the Pro 10 DI to help coordinator Edgar Perez and then went on to win the Corvette Challenge when Tony Cupolo went red. In Pro 10.0, we had five entries and David Harris won the three rounds to capture his first Pro 10 Double Index victory over Edgar Perez with a .028 margin of victory. More details to come and preliminary points have been updated at on the standings page.

Oct 24, 2009 Officially Rained Out and Nov 7 Race rescheduled Due to Shakedown at E'town
10/24/09 - Okay folks, we have gotten official word that today's Corvette Challenge, Pro 8 Shootout and Pro 11.50 are rained out. No drag racing today. The rained, coupled with the recent rescheduling of the "Shakedown at E'town" weekend even means that our schedule will be shook up! We go forward with next weekend's, Oct 31, Challenge and Pro 10 Double Index. Nov 7 is a day of rest or spectateting at E'town. Nov 14 and Nov 21 will be Corvette Challenge, Pro 8 Shootout and Pro 11.50 races. Our Top 16 race moves again to the beginning of next season as the Nov 21 weekend is the last for the 2009 season at Englishtown. Sorry folks. See ya next week.
    Please No Not Again!
10/23/09 - Now it is time I lay me down to sleep and pray the lord my rain to keep. Yes the forecast looks bad for our race tomorrow. At this point we are officially on for tomorrow but please do call Raceway Park for an updated recording before you leave home tomorrow and I suggest you call during your trip as well. I will post an update on Twitter if I find out before you. Also not that our Nov 7 Corvette Challenge has been bumped for the rescheduled Al Anabi Shakedown at E'town. We move that to Nov 14 moving our Top 16 to the 21st but this will all change tomorrow if rained out.
Farley goes Back to Back and Cavanagh Wins Pro 10 in Event 8
10/10/09 - After a long rain delay, we finally started racing around 2 pm today. Light drizzle started to fall as the gates opened around 9:30 and did not let as quick as we hoped. However Rob Farley did not let that rain on his parade as he finished the day with his second Corvette Challenge win in a row and 10th overall in the Corvette Challenge. He becomes the second racer to win 10 in his Corvette Challenge career and trail Ralph Savarese with 18. Trails him in the points too but moved up to number 3 with the win. Shawn Cavanagh, Corvette Challenge, Pro 11.50 and Pro 10.0 racer now has done what only three other before him have down. Taking the win in the Pro 10 Double Index over David Shen today who had breakage on the line has now won two different Pro classes. Cavanagh won the last Pro 11.50 and now has won a Pro 10 race. He joins, Paul Ziajski, Mark Shaw and Jay McCardle who have each won in Pro 10 and Pro 8 Shootout. Shawn is the first to do it with Pro 10 and Pro 11.50 wins.

Congratulations to all the participants today. Thank you for waiting out the rain with us. We will have full articles as soon as possible. Go on over to the Corvette Forum to congratulate the drivers. Check your preliminary points where you are here too.
